APIC Corp. designs and manufactures the highest performing fiber optic links for high-fidelity analog signal transmission. One of several key enabling technologies is a stable laser with ultra low relative intensity noise (RIN) over the entire RF bandwidth. Ultra low RIN lasers are critical to achieving noise figures (NF), below 5 dB; large dynamic range; and minimum gain compression. APIC’s CW lasers have RIN levels of -170 to -165 dB/Hz out to 20 GHz. Our white paper on “ULTRA LOW NOISE FIGURE RF OVER FIBER LINK” describes and quantifies the impact of RIN and signal amplification on RF over fiber link performance.
Done past work on RFoF and very interested in this technology as back around say 2010 time timeframe worked on such links with low NF.
